WE HEADED SOUTH FROM WRIGHTSVILLE AND STOPPED IN HOLDEN BEACH. AFTER A LONG LONG DAY, WE DOCKED AND GEORGE WANTED/NEEDED A BREAK. JIBBER JABBER CAN GET A LITTLE OVERWHELMING. ADD TO IT THE CONSTANT NEED TO DIRECT AND REDIRECT, AND WELL, YOU REALLY NEED A BREAK....
"PUSHY PUSHY PUSHY" IS HOW GEORGE DESCRIBED HIS DARLING BRIDE....
OUR NEW FRIEND LORENZO STOPPED BY FOR A SPELL. AFTER A FEW MINUTES HE FOUND AN EXIT, AFRAID FOR HIS LIFE THAT HE MIGHT BE THE NEXT VICTIM - FORCED TO BECOME PART OF THE SHIP OF FOOLS CREW. BARNEY TRIED TO LEAVE WITH HIM, BUT WAS APPREHENDED.
HEADED SOUTH THE NEXT DAY WE WENT FROM PINES....
TO PALMS.
ALONG THIS PORTION OF THE TRIP, FLIPPER AND HIS FRIENDS RAN ALONG WITH US.
CAPPY TAN AND SEEBEE (AKA "JIBBER")
BETWEEN HOLDEN BEACH AND GEORGETOWN, WE HEADED INTO A LITTLE HOLE IN THE WALL MARINA CALLED "OSPREY"
GETTING TO OSPREY FELT LIKE WE WERE HEADED INTO A "DELIVERANCE" FILM SET. GEORGE SAID IF HE HEARD BANJO MUSIC HE HAS TURNING AROUND AND GETTING THE HELL OUT OF HERE...
HAVING NOT SEEN VERY MANY UNIQUELY NAMED NAUTICAL ENTERPRISES ALONG THE WAY, SANDY MADE SURE TO CAPTURE THIS ONE....OSPREY MARINA GRILL.
AFTER WALKING IN THE DOOR SHE INQUIRED IF THEY "SOLD ICE"???
WE AWOKE TO A BEAUTIFUL COOL MORNING, AND HEADED SOUTH TO GEORGETOWN.
ALANA'S GOOD STINK WEARS OFF.......OR IS THAT SOMETHING ELSE???
A FEW DAYS PRIOR TO GEORGETOWN, GEORGE PUT HIS FOOT DOWN AND TOLD JABBER TO "CLEAN UP THIS PLACE OR WALK THE PLANK". JABBER, KNOWING THE CAPPY TAN IS IN CHARGE DECIDED THE OVEN WAS A CONVENIENT PLACE TO STORE SELDOM USED ITEMS........
UPON ARRIVAL IN GEORGETOWN, JIBBER AND JABBER DECIDED TO COOK.....
SHIP OF FOOLS LESSON # 3 (OR IS IT 4)??
PRIOR TO TURNING ON THE OVEN, IT IS PRUDENT TO REMOVE ALL PLASTIC APPLIANCES STORED INSIDE. OTHERWISE, YOU RISK FIRE AND A SMELL SO STRONG IT MAKES NEIGHBORS UNCOMFORTABLE....
IN GEORGETOWN, SANDY BOUGHT A CELLULAR COMPUTER MODEM AND ALANA BOUGHT AN IPAD. HOLED UP IN THE OSPREY LAUNDRY ROOM TRYING TO GET ONLINE WAS ENOUGH TO DRIVE THESE 2 TIGHTWADS INTO THE STORE FOR "BOAT CONNECTIVITY TOOLS"
HEADED SOUTH TOWARDS CHARLESTON, SANDY TOOK THE HELM FOR A SPELL. ALANA TOOK THIS PIC FROM HER NEW IPAD - HER NEW TOY MADE HER FORGET ELVIS FROM A FEW STOPS BACK...
AFTER A LONG BUT PRETTY DAY, WE ARRIVED IN DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON. GEORGE WANTED A LIBATION.....SANDY DROPPED IT..... HANG IN THEIR GEORGE! SEEING BRIDGES, CARS AND OTHER BOATS, BARNEY STARTED THINKING THIS COULD BE HIS BEST CHANCE FOR AN SPCA..... GEORGE WAS HAVING SIMILAR THOUGHTS BUT OF A QUIET LITTLE "SINGLES" RETIREMENT COMMUNITY.....
ONE OF THE SMALLER BOATS DOCKED NEAR BY.
CAPPY TAN TOOK A BREAK TO WATCH GEORGIA VS LSU IN THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. THE FIRST QUARTER WAS GREAT. GO DAWGS!
THE SECOND HALF, NOT SO GREAT. GO DAWGS QUICKLY BECAME GOING DOWN DAWGS.
NOT SURE IF WE WILL SPEND THE DAY IN CHARLESTON ON SUNDAY OR CONTINUE SOUTH. EITHER WAY, WE WILL LEAVE OUR MARK AND MAKE URBANNA PROUD.
LOVE TO ALL.

Glad to hear you guys are already at Charleston. Welcome to a few days of 8-foot tides and 3-4 knot currents! Keep a good eye on the front ranges and back ranges as you make your way through the rivers and sounds of SC and GA.
ReplyDeleteThis blog was mentioned at the UCYC Christmas Party last night, so you may pick up a few more followers now! ;-)
Keep on having fun, and keep up the great posts!
Love to all - Parker and Carolyn
Your adventure looks like a blast so far. Keep up the crazies and post often. Jack came up for son Rob's surprise 50th birthday party last night and it was quite a to-do put on by his current squeeze in RIC. We did the Va St breakfast with Dave, Wanda, Lisa, Hunter and Chris this morning and Jack headed home soon afterwards. Will be looking forward to your next update. John as in Whitehead
ReplyDeleteWhat a trip you are having! Can't believe you weren't rooting for the Bayou Bengals though..GEAUX TIGERS! It is very quiet in Urbanna with out Jibber and Jabber. You missed the Urbanna Christmas parade, (I got to sing w/our Opera trained pastor in front of the Women's Club) not to mention a great Company party with lots of libations and incredible seafood, roast beef, pork, sauted veggies and CHOCOLATE! Katie outdid her self. Ron, Lee and David are holding down the fort but I think it's time for y'all to head home for the holidays! We Miss you!
ReplyDeleteYou guys! this is hilarious! Just caught up on all the posts. love the photos.
ReplyDeleteSo the odyssey continues, does it? Things are changing rapidly here in Urbanna. I am quite content in your house and have changed all the locks and petitioned for full custody of the pups, plus I drank up what little vodka and scotch you left here. Squatter's rights, kinda like Occupy Alana's. Perhaps you can camp out at the shop when you return.

In case you're still in Charleston (I always had trouble leaving) and looking for yet another great restaurant, you might try Fast and French at 98 Broad Street. If you're headed for Beaufort SC and want to see how us poor cruisers do it for free, check out Factory Creek to the left right before the bridge. That's where I anchor off the public boat ramp, dinghy in and walk into town. -- Roger the boat bum
